I'm well aware of that... I *did* put a ;-) on the end of message
because it was in jest. It was Volkers 'In other words - people
breaking licence agreements may freely post this, while I may not
respond' line that I found faintly reminiscent of the umissed Payne.
The jest did contain a slightly serious message... just that I found
Volkers response to Jays new policy a little over the top, and
perhaps ill-considered. Volker, like all of us, can argue licensing
until he's blue in the face *here*. I think Jay is perfectly correct
in trying to suppress such discussion on the main list.
I thought Volker was missing the point; 1. we don't have the facts to
judge whether any particular poster with 'licensed' OS questions is
legitimate, and 2. it's not our business to go digging for
information about their licensing, and 3. it's not our business to do
anything about it if they ARE infringing - I'm positive IBMers
monitor these forums, if they want to act they will.
'people breaking licence agreements' is a gross & egregrious
assumption. IMHO.
