I've seen in many a threads on the various Hercules groups about
IBM's refusal to make more recent versions of VM/VSE/MVS available
for hercules...but...

Has anyone proposed to IBM that obsolete versions, such as the SP
versions of the OS be made available for sale to hobbyists? I don't
know if y'all would be willing to pay for it, but I would probably
shell out a little cash for VM/SP or VSE/SP to run on Hercules.

As for me, my first experience on the mainframe was as an operator
on DOS/VSE. I don't remember the version, but I believe it was the
version that was the immediate predecessor to VSE/SP.

Just a thought. I know we would like it for free, but it is IBM's
property, even if the SP versions have long since been obsolete.

Regards to Herculeans.

David
