of CD-ROMs could IBM get?  10%, if they are lucky.  Yes, they could
get the servers shut down with a letter, would not even cost them
filing fees.  Just lawyer fees to write the letter.  But everything
coded into Hercules is based on public descriptions of the hardware
and not any trade secrets.

That is where Turbo Hercules is trying to help.  There are a lot of
customers on MVS 3.8 to OS/390 on S/390, T3, and Flex-ES hardware.
They are too small to buy a used z/800, stranded by the loss of
licensing z/OS on T3 and Flex-ES emulators, but want to continue to
run mainframe applications on a smaller platform.  If IBM would treat
them with respect, on a graduated scale according the their use in
comparison the the smallest z/Series, running production on z/PDT or
Turbo Hercules, they would have lots of additional customers that they
cannot reach with the lowest priced z/Series.  Right now IBM is
treating them like thieves because they want low MSU z/OS without a
z/Series processor.

So what if TurboHercules gets twice the performance of z/PDT, z/PDT is
fast enough for these potential small customers.
