MVSDDT does not need to be open source to make my point.  One might wish 
to write such a too, however and the derivative use what what I was 
pointing out.

The other points such as the details as to features, I'm not qualified 
to compare to the other IBM tools or this one.  I don't see a reason to 
respond directly to the question the poster followed up with, but rather 
to point out that something such as a debugger would be useful.  And to 
point out that if it is open source or adaptable there are uses to be 
had which can be considered innovative.

I personally like to see the tools open source because that can lead to 
innovation because the future uses may make any use of the tool they 
wish, even incorporating it into another tool which uses its features.  
The profiler example I mentioned is just one such too.
