Paul, Well OK the 3350 version "works" on the P390 in ESA mode, but I would be very surprised if it didn't. The P390 is very close to Hercules. So it triggers the same errors in DDR that Hercules does, because it also presents DE+CE (I think) after a tape rewind for an AWS tape and DDR is not expecting that. To get it across I used DDR to dump the disk to AWS tape, copied the aws tape to a CD and to the then restored it on the P/390. I know VM DDR is not designed for such mis-use but it generally produces good copies of DASD. There is a noticeable but minute "delay" when it re-writes the screen, but the P390 is pretty slow on IO as it only has one Pentium P90 that has to emulate all the channel IO. Dave (By works I checked it IPL's, runs the autoxec.bat and DIR produces some output.) > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] <[email protected]> > Sent: 18 March 2019 13:14 > To: [email protected] > Subject: RE: [hercules-390] Re: DASD compatibility between P390 and > Hercules > > ---In [email protected], <dave.g4ugm@...> wrote : > > > It just complains about invalid pointers all over the place. > > Can you provide the first error you get? > > It might be better if I provide an uncompressed DASD as it might be that your > dasdcopy is not able to handle CCKD files of the vintage that I am running. > > Thanks.
