Several years ago I started getting cataracts that made it difficult to drive at night. I didn't even know that there was an option, but two years ago I had both lenses replaced. This is so routine that it's performed on an out-patient basis. The drawback is that the lenses I chose are good for medium distance viewing (suitable for watching TV and driving), but I need glasses (2.5 times magnification, available at any drug store, pharmacy, amazom.com, etc.) to read small print closer than a foot or so. I don't know whether this is appropriate for you, but you may want to talk to an ophthalmologist. And also whether your health care covers the cost.
