Paul,

IBMs VNET is not a public network. You had to own a IBM mainframe to be in
it, and it is meant for productivity. Basically, the file transfer is via
RSCS or JES2/NJE and the 3780 BiSync protocol. There are no newsgroups and
no newsgroup software.

Ever since the Christmas tree worm, VNET has been very highly guarded.
