Errors using dasds om z/OS volume

I’m getting this message when I try to do this:

dasdls -refdt -expdt -hdr <some volume>.ckd

HHC00404E 0:0000 CKD file (null): error in function open(): No such file or directory
HHC00404E 0:0000 CKD file (null): error in function open(): No such file or directory
HHC00404E 0:0000 CKD file (null): error in function open(): No such file or directory
HHC00406E 0:0000 CKD file (null): ckd header invalid

The HHC00404E message doesn’t seem to matter much as I see this all the time, but HHC00406E (undocumented) seems to be the thing to pay attention to.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Just for the record the z/OS version is 2.1+ and Hercules is 4.2.0.0-SDL.
