There were also plug compatible LCS unit made; UIUC's 360/75 had a 2Mb unit to supplement the 1Mb of standard core. Still there in 1981 when the /75 was finally decommissioned.... But just for historical interest (if such exists here), the term was LCS (Large-Capacity Storage, though I've also heard Large-scale Core Storage). This was a separate stand-alone box, model 2361, with anywhere from 1MB to 8MB of core, addressable exactly like normal storage, but running much slower. ... Tony H.
