You're right, but it's the least of my worries.  However,  Windows still complains if I do that and fires up the networking troubleshooter to try and "fix the problem". It's just easier to let it do its thing and use MAC addresses.

You don't need to use DHCP, do you?  Just configure the interface(s) with static IP addresses.

Or you *might* be able to configure your DHCP server to always issue (reserve) the same IP address for particular MAC addresses. My LRT214 can do this, but not all DHCP servers provide that capability,

DHCP keeps changing the Windows IP addresses, so I've resorted to using MAC addresses in the Hercules configuration files to get around this issue. Fortunately there is nowhere in z/OS that needs to know a Windows IP address.
