EDIT on a VM/370 R6 system does not support UPDATES. Xedit on VM/SP and later can process an assemble file, apply all of the updates indicated by the specified control and auxfiles and when you save it, your changes are saved as CMS UPDATES in the LAST update file listed in the auxfiles. What I did on VM/370 R6 was to apply the updates to create a NEW MASTER, edit the new master and after saving/filing it to MY MASTER, run XCOMPARE new_master my_master update_file and then erase the new master and my master leaving just an update file that can be added to the auxfiles. This also works for MVT/MVS programs since XCOMPARE can create IEBUPDTE control cards instead of CMS UPDATE control cards. /Tom Kern Mike Stramba wrote: > > As I have no idea how "edit supports update files", can you educate me ? ;) > > On 8/5/10, Laddie Hanus <laddiehanus-/[email protected] > <mailto:laddiehanus%40yahoo.com>> wrote: >> I have been following the discussion and >> found it interesting.
