RE: creating DASD

VM should happily read MVS OS volumes and I have used this method to copy
MVS source from the Turnkey. It won't howeevr write to them...

As for DASD for a new VM system it depends on what you mean by a "new" VM
system. If you are restoring from tape, or using a starter system tape then
"dasdinit" is probably the way to go. However once you have created the disk
remember to use the standalone format program to format any CP owned (paging
and spool) areas on the pack.

If want to modify a an existing system that's already in Hercules then you
can use DASDCOPY to copy a disk and optionally merge in any shadow files in.
