Hello!

Not sure to understand which is your 'interesting idea': to put your hands on the 3090 400J with VM/HPO5 (mentioned by David Boyes) or to know on which real metal can run vanilla VM/370 rel6?

In the first case be ready to have a large building and to shell out great bucks for electric power and IBM hardware maintenance: 3090 400J is one of the largest IBM mainframes ever built.

Mainframes starting from 138 to 168 and 3031-3033 surely supported VM/370; not sure if 4341 supported it officially, as in 1979 was announced VM/SP1.

You would need a string of 3350's or 3340's too...a tape unit..a printer.. maybe a card reader; some 3278.. a 3274...

I think Hercules would be a better choice;-)

Regards.
