There are lots of cases where the tempting notion of using several
levels of VM to support an old architecture on modern hardware might
apply. Virtually none of them will work.

z/Arch machines are compatible back to S/360 at the problem state
level, but not even close in supervisor state. z/VM offers a certain
amount of virtual machine supervisor state compatibility with S/360,
but it does not extent to DAT.
