I just wanted to report in and say that the destructive backspace works perfectly! I was able to compile tn5250 and x5250 for glibc 2.3.X under Ubuntu 6.06 (after upgrading all the autoconf, etc tools from source of the newest versions). Thank you again for this James Rich!
