The  IBM i operating system uses 10-character names for sessions.  So 
"XX.XXXXX.01" is 11 characters long, and it would've ignored the last 
character (giving you XX.XXXXX.0).

If you had multiple devices (ending with .02, .03, etc) this would've 
caused conflicts when it dropped the last digit...
