I'm not sure why I was telling you to look at the previous message for the
message number.  The message numbers were right in front of me in your
previous posts.  Sorry about that.

I'm not sure if MVT can handle four digit device addresses.  Try 580 instead
of 0580.  I don't definitely remember with MVT but quotes might be
necessary.  If R 07,580 doesn't work try R 08,'580'

It's necessary with MVT or any of it's descendants if the tape drive is
offline.  I've varied tape drives, and other devices, offline/online with
MVT and MVS under Hercules, and with OS/390 and z/OS on real iron.
