This is BS, and you should know that. It all depends on how you have fun. If you jus want to code, and *don't* care what happens to the project, the BSD license is for you, I agree. If you like to code *and* have strong feeling about the project, the (L)GPL license is more appropriate. This is like having sex/children. That is, some people are content to just have sex all their lives, without caring to have children. Most other though enjoy having sex, but they want kids as well. Obviously, the analogy I'm trying to make here is sex=coding, children=project :). Nobody denies that the sex/coding thing is the fun part ;). Now, if you don't care about the result of your fun, you're a BSD guy, 'cause you only like to share. On the other hand, if you care about the well being of said result, you may be willing to even give up a little on the fun part to protect it. Most people actually do that -- they do give up quite a bit of fun to have & protect (their) kids. This analogy is not completely out to lunch. Most people feel a *very* strong paternal feeling towards the projects where they put their heart and soul. It's "their baby". If you don't understand that, you (1) you've never experienced it, and (2) miss out big. Think about this before accusing the LGPL proponents, and try to understand that line of reasoning. It's actually quite reasonable, 'cause we not only love coding, (and BTW we have quite a code base to prove it), but we also love Wine. And like any parent, we want only but the best for it. -- Dimi.
