I don't know about Mike, but I tried kernel version 2.6.7 a month or
so ago and had little success, with or without Debian patches/packages.
The binaries built, but crashed the kernel, either immediately or when
the cipcb device was taken down.

I got as far as chasing the oops to somewhere in the multicast code, then
gave up.  2.6.7 isn't usable to me for a number of reasons unrelated
to CIPE, and nobody in CIPE-land seems to be taking 2.6 kernel support
seriously.

The Debian packages are great for 2.2.17 .. 2.4.26.  I've been using
them for years.  Except for a couple of months around 2.4.6, they have
been built so seamlessly that I can almost forget they're not part of the
main kernel (at least, up to the point I forget to apt-get install them...).
