Hello,

getting this software working is very frustrating. I guess it was a
mistake not to read the RFC first (I presume there is an RFC) for the
hkp protocol.

I'm using pks-0.9.6.

I compiled and installed everything ok. I hacked the pks.init script
to work under SuSE. I created a database using the instructions.
pksd runs and seems happy. I added an entry in syslog.conf for the
local2 facility. I edited pks.conf and pointed www_dir at a real
directory. The README does not mention anything about a "pks"
user, but it's pretty clear from the pks.init that the author
intended the "pksd" and "pks-queue-run.sh" processes to run as
a non-root user. Thus I created a "pks" user, and set the ownership
of all appropriate directories and files.

It is still pretty much unclear what configuration steps need to be
taken such that I can run the following command:

	gpg --keyserver hkp://my.server/ --send-keys KEY-ID

I can telnet to port 11371 on my.server and type in gibberish, which
I then see in the pksd log, so it's definately listening on that port.

However the above gpg command always reports and error, and I see
something about a "POST" in the pksd log. (unfortunately I don't
have the error in front of me).

The CVS README is longer, but only slightly more helpful.

I would really appreciate some tips on getting this stuff running.

cheers,
