I will take a deeper look into the bz2 code. I also think it should
return an error earlier but preventing the endless loop seems a good
idea anyway.

That would be great.

I'm almost done converting the build process to automake. From the
mailing list I conclude that the redir module currently cannot work with
kernel 2.6, is that right? I don't use the avfscoda stuff and (of
course) wasn't able to test the redir module. I think I will currently
only enable the avfscoda for kernels 2.4 or less. There's a patch for
avfscoda so it compiles with kernel 2.6 but I think the redir module is
still needed but won't compile. Do you have some information about this?
Or Olivier Valentin?

What's about the glassfs stuff? It's not referenced anywhere in the avfs
package. I currently only add the files to the avfs package but don't
try to build it.

Anyway, I will test the new build process with the machines I have
access to including linux systems with kernel 2.2, 2.4 and 2.6 and some
SUN machines (for the preload stuff).

Best Regards,

Ralf Hoffmann
