That's right.  And IIRC the patch makes it only compile for 2.6, so
some work is needed to make it compile for both.  But probably it
would be better to get fuse based avfs working.  

The redir module is not strictly needed, since without it the virtual
files can still be accessed under /overlay.  But it's less convinient.

Those are just my failed experiments for making redir-like
functionality work under 2.6.
