Olivier Valentin made a patch which enables avfscoda to work on 2.6.*, see: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=6709389&forum_id=32283 FUSE support is very experimental, but you can fetch the CVS version of AVFS, and there you can find a 'fuse' direcory and build avfsd. Unfortunately neither of these bring the old 'redir' functionality on 2.4 kernels. There were some discussions about directory view of files on the Linux kernel mailing list. This together with automounting the AVFS filesystem could actually bring back something similar to the redir functionality. But it's a lot of work.
