I just tested the patch and it applies to avfs 0.9.5 without problems
except for one hunk. This hunk only adds a debug output so it's nothing
to worry about at the moment. But it really doesn't matter as the
avfscoda still doesn't compile because of some header problems I'm not
able to solve currently. The include file coda.h from kernel 2.6
includes linux/time.h (in contrast to coda.h from kernel 2.4 which does
not). Some structures defined there are already defined by sys/time.h so
it won't compile (for example struct timespec). I tested it on two 2.6
machines but perhaps it's only a problem with my machines.

To make a long story short, you can try the patch pointed out by Miklos
Szeredi but don't expect that it will compile.

Even if it would compile without problems there is still some work
needed. With the patch the code doesn't compile on kernel < 2.6.
If we can use avfs over fuse I don't see any need for the avfscoda anymore.
