The OpenAFS Gatekeepers are pleased to announce the availability of
OpenAFS version 1.4 Release Candidate 4. Source files and currently
available binaries may be accessed via the web at:

    http://www.openafs.org/dl/openafs/candidate/1.4.0-rc4/

Important changes since release candidate 3 include:

* a Linux specific fix to prevent revalidation of the root afs vnode

* a Linux specific fix to allow compilation on kernels that do not
  utilize PF_FREEZE

* a Windows specific change to detect unintentional cloning of the
  AFSCache file across multiple machines

* Windows specific corrections to documentation

* changes to the RX library to ensure that waiting threads are woken
when the call is no longer busy.

At the present time there are no known bugs that would prevent this
from being the final release candidate build. Please assist us by
testing this release candidate and providing feedback. Bug reports
should be filed to [email protected].
