The OpenAFS Gatekeepers are pleased to announce the availability of
OpenAFS version 1.4 Release Candidate 6. Source files and currently
available binaries may be accessed via the web at:

    http://www.openafs.org/dl/openafs/candidate/1.4.0-rc6/

Important changes since release candidate 5 include:

* WINDOWS: Several AFS Shell Extension issues were resolved

* WINDOWS: volume owner and group info displayed by the
  "fs examine" command

* UNIX: Bugs affecting writing files have been fixed for Solaris and for
memory based caches on all Unix platforms

* HP-UX: Portability fixes

At the present time there are no known bugs that would prevent this
from being the final release candidate build. We have received several
inquiries asking "how many release candidates will be issued before
you are done?" The answer is "as many as it takes to get a version
that does not have a known bug that affects either system stability
or data integrity."

Please assist us by testing this release candidate and providing
feedback. Bug reports should be filed to [email protected].
Reports of success should be sent to [email protected]. Are we
ready to go? Please let us know.
