Re: Registry based vldb and file server preferences

The purpose of these registry options is to allow organizations
which distribute transformed MSIs to their end users to include
as part of the installation a default set of server preferences
which will be loaded at AFS Client Service start time.  These
values can be overrided by a user with "AFS Client Admin" privileges
using the AFS Control Panel "Set Prefs" page or the "fs setserverprefs"
command.

These registry options can also be used by organizations which
manage Windows workstations via Group Policy to assign different
sets of server preferences to machines located in different OUs.
What these organizations currently do is execute an "fs setserverprefs" 
command as part of the login process.

I am not currently contemplating writing code to monitor the IP
routing tables and determine under which circumstances the current 
server preferences should be replaced by an alternate set.
