Pardon my ignorance but what in the world could either of the
above issues have to do with your problem?

Rx connection pools would permit more connections for a given user
to a specific file server at a time.

UNICODE support will permit faster SMB connections and permit a
broader range of characters to be used in file and directory names.

Neither of these projects will fix a deadlock or other problem in
the cache manager.

The IFS Redirector will remove the SMB server interface and replace
it with a kernel based one that is independent of the network stack.
The benefit of this project is (a) speed and (b) it will eliminate
the timeout problems that are introduced in the Microsoft SMB
Redirector.

Restarting a service is not going to get the bug fixed.

Providing an unambiguous description of the symptoms of the problem in a 
bug report combined with evidence such as trace logs and minidumps will 
get the problem resolved.
