The server should work on 5.1, but it has not been fully tested.  I suggest
you use a recent source snapshot or the cvs head instead of 1.2.10.  This
should solve your compilation problems.

You shouldn't need the kernel module to run a server.  Make sure you're
using the namei file server and not the inode one.  The kernel module might
build but it is unlikely to work.  The client is guaranteed not to work.
