irc.gnome.org isn't a web site, it's an irc server.  What Linux distribution 
are you running?  Mozilla irc support is often in a different package (In 
mandrake it's in mozilla-irc)

If you do, here is the step by step:
-Open KSirc
-Settings/Configure KSirc.../Startup/ , give yourself a nickname and a real 
name
-Connections/New server.../Qick connect to:, enter irc.gnome.org and click 
Connect
-In the field below the window that pops up with the server messages, type: 
/join #gnucash
