Thanks, but I still can't do the first step: connect to irc.gnome.org. 

I use Mozilla, Pan, and Sylpheed.  There is no web site called
irc.gnome.org.  Mozilla Help does not mention chat.  Google finds
references to irc.gnome.org, but I couldn't find one that tells how to
get started.  Recall that I am new to Linux.  Also, I have never joined
a chat group.

Would you tell me where to find the information on how to get started? 
I'll install KSirc if that's my best bet.

I am receiving all your messages twice, once from libofx-devel, and once
from you.  How about sending them just to libofx-devel, unless you have
a personal message for me?
