How about introducing a new layer for exactly this purpose of yours ? This new 
layer could parse or interprete the elements as you like. 
Other applications - those which are currently using LibOFX - could then 
simply use the now existing API (with the addition of some fields I asked 
for) which could be called "Low Level API".

This way everybody gets what he needs ;-)
