Intuit & bank ditching Quicken 2008: Effect on Moneydance?

I used to use Wells Fargo Online to download transactions from by bank account to Quicken. Now I download to Moneydance. To do this, I had to tell WF I was still using Quicken.

Yesterday, I received a letter from Wells Fargo Online Customer Service. It was postdated April Fools Day but is authentic. It referred me to a web page with more info: https://www.wellsfargo.com/quicken/directconnect/upgrade. 

In summary:

- Attn: WIndows users of Intuit products.

	Intuit is retiring the Windows versions of Quicken 2008 on April 7 and QuickBooks 2008 on May 31. WF won't support them after that. Users should upgrade to Intuit's 2011 versions. WF will sell it to you at a discount.

- Attn: Mac and Windows users of Intuit products. 

	WF is upgrading to a new system that will provide all users of the online features of Quicken and QuickBooks a few improvements. 

- Attn: All users of WF Online. 

	- The old system for connecting Quicken and QuickBooks [...and Moneydance...] with WF will be turned off July 7. 
	- Customers who do not migrate to the new system before the end of June will not be able to access their bank accounts from Quicken or QuickBooks [...or Moneydance?...] . 
	- If you don't migrate, scheduled bill payments will be canceled. To regain access, you will have to re-enroll and set up payees from scratch.

My guess is that they are changing the communication protocol between Intuit software and the bank. Unsaid is whether this will affect users of non-Intuit money management software like Money, which they support, or Moneydance, which they do not. 

Perhaps the upcoming Moneydance 2011, with "a complete overhaul of the transaction download-and-organizing system," will work with WF's new system.

WF did not mention Quicken Essentials for Mac. It can download transactions using the current system but does not support bill pay. Maybe it already knows the new download protocol.

WF didn't say whether other banks were doing the same thing--or already have.
