The forum allows you to subscribe to "new topics". However, when you 
do this, you get a message for every new topic, in any category.

1) You may not be interested in all categories.

2) A lot of new topics are basically not very interesting, like the 
17th time someone asks how to use some feature. I suspect that on 
many days, Ric would decide that none of the new topics are worth forwarding.

3) You may prefer to see the multiple notifications in a single daily 
email. Many people still prefer to receive mailing lists in digest 
mode, for various reasons, despite the obvious disadvantages.

I think that Ric was proposing to add value in these areas: filtering 
and digest.

I'm not weighing in on whether Ric's proposal is good or bad, just 
saying that he is proposing something with real added value, not just 
a duplication or a reposting.
