Thanks for the follow-up, Al, and John, thanks for the pointer to 
changing that file to address the java.net.SocketException error.

Perhaps you guys have different networking setups which might account 
for errors on one and not on the other, i.e., IPv6 enabled for one of 
you and disabled for the other.

For me, considering that OS/2 still does not have an IPv6-aware stack, I 
have to constantly watch stuff like this to ward off odd behavior (an 
example is a Firefox bug I filed in 2005: 
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=300302 ).
