Well i guess *someone* could, in theory, grab the source from a few months ago, and patch in some of the bug-fixes, to attempt a more stable 'old skool’ fontforge distro. 
The only dumb issue at the moment, imo, is the fact that the glyph edit window, recognises char names as text strings and not as char names, so user can’t zip through the charset with keystroke when in glyph edit window.  I think that as soon as that’s sorted you may find the changes to the glyph window an improvement over the vintage ‘one glyph per window’ gui.

I would be very interested to use it, but at the moment it is for me something i would have to take a week off to manage to build. I tried the other day; a lot of adding dependencies when and if you discover them, only to arrive at yet another make error just installing those needed tools or libs. I don’t have the knowledge or inclination for too much of that :)
