I think it is possible that it is the version of the libzmq that is the problem. I am running Crunchbang Linux ‘Waldorf’ which is based on Debian Wheezy. I am thinking of running the ‘developer’ version of Crunchbang (based on Debian Sid) in a virtual box, just to see if that works.

Incidentally the binary builds of Fontforge for OSX (built from the latest sources) do run the libzmq and collaboration features fine :-/

I’ll let you know if i find anything that works.
