Hi, there.

In preparation for the pending FontForge release, I'm reworking some of the
Debian packaging. I'd appreciate if a few people on various platforms using
apt would try installing and using FontForge from my temporary repository
and then reporting back (whether it works or not).

Here are the steps: {
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade; sudo apt-get install
python-software-properties;
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:frank-trampe/fontforge;
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade; sudo apt-get install fontforge;
fontforge;
}.

If you can't install python-software-properties (which includes
add-apt-repository), try adding these lines to a new file in
/etc/apt/sources.list.d (
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/frank-trampe/fontforge/ubuntu precise main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/frank-trampe/fontforge/ubuntu precise main
) and then running this (
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 4D6BF45D
) before running the last line from the instructions above.
