I expect that we will have the mentoring and support resources necessary
for the project.

The fact remains that the FontForge code base is not particularly
accessible or comprehensible. It might take a while before somebody becomes
sufficiently familiar with the code base that he fixes more than he breaks
with each change. I propose that we try to make a list of the more easily
siloed wish-list items (those requiring less interaction with all of the
messy stuff) so as to maximize the expected productivity of any summer
coders.
