Ah, sorry about that -- I guess we'd chatted about this at the developers 
conference and then in a few emails without making people more aware of 
what was going on.  It's not a huge effort; he's stealing pieces of the 
existing backing store code to do the transformation in a DDX-independent 
fashion, which should mean Composite for all X servers.

Stuart Kreitman has been working on Damage/XFIXES already; I don't know if 
he's committed those to X.Org CVS yet or not.
