Please correct me if I'm wrong. Yes, Damage monitors areas affected by 2D rendering so that repaints can be minimized. One thing I haven't got at the moment is any way to synchronize updates with vrefresh (no interrupt->Xsync connection), so I'm currently painting as fast as I can, which is a waste of resources. Eric Anholt nearly has a DRI-based 2D X server running on the radeon with full Render acceleration; that should provide a good platform for testing compositing performance. Now we just need to get him back from Cuba, or get someone else to get things working before then. -keith
