Because when I remove the *guest* virtual server, the iPhone connects. I 
tried in vain to get to the bottom of it for quite a while, trying 
anything i could find on the Internet. And I still have no idea why.

In my opinion the "multi-instance" solution is a simpler and therefore 
cleaner alternative to the "multi-virtual-server" one. It's not like I'm 
short of any resources. There are many components at play and getting 
them to work somehow gets exponentially complicated when you opt for a 
complicated setup.
