Newbie needs TV configuration help/recommendations

Hello,

I spent the better part of the weekend trying to get an NVIDIA TNT2
card with S-Video out to work with Advance-MAME. I never had any luck
and fell back on using the SDL version of Advance-MAME with my multisync
monitor under X-Windows.

Before I attempt this again I have a few questions.

1)Which is a better output device S-Video TV or a multi-sync monitor?

2)If I use TV out, what is a recommended video card?

3)Should I use the svgalib, frame buffer or SDL version of Advance MAME?
