Increasing Performance: About FASTVID and new chipsets...

Hello ADVmame users,

I would like to know of a way of enabling write-posting
and write-combining in new chipsets, like those used on Athlon/ Athlon64
boards.

For me, it was the single MOST performance_increasing thing I could do with
my PIII in MSDOS :
running fASTVID make the video card raw speed jump from 80-100 Mb/sec to
around 280-360 Mb/sec. on every video board I tried.

Unfortunately FASTVID is not being worked on/supported now, and it doesn't
work on new
motherboards.
With AMD64 3400+ in Via K8T800 board I get some miserabble 35Mb/sc no matter
what I do.
Putting a G200, G400 or Radeon gives the same slow results.
Even PCI cards give more speed (MGA Millenium 80Mb/sc)

Any Idea how to program the PCI registers the way FASTVID did?

Thanks for any help!

               Quique.
