COnfiguring Inputs

Hi guys i have Advancecd Runing but since i have already the controls with
an encoder(Similar to a Jpac), i need to adjust the inputs so they match
the true inputs of the controls i already have, they use a common keyboard
encoder i just mapped some of the keys to the new controls(Arcade joystick
and buttons), i already read the AdvanceMame to do the config file, but
i cant find how to make advancecd to use this file, cause the advancedmame
is .rc and the ones advcd uses are .cfg and other format cause i put it
on the conf directory and the keys weren't remapped as i wanted.
