Hello ... I have been able to use a fat hard drive partition, floppy, or USB drive to store high scores, nram, and config data. I am using the CD only version of advcd but it sould make no difference.

You will need to mount the device you want to store this to. Then configure advmame.rc to point to that directory. I put the mount in advcd.sh and that is run at boot time.

USB was tricky since that is not really native to Linux like HD and floppy. I found a script and use that to search for one of the three media and mount the first one it finds.

Let me know if you need any other assistance.

Subject: [advancemame-users] AdvanceCD on Hard Drive - Is there a way to enable High Scores?

Hello,

I have several Cabinet conversions that I have made over the years.
I'm in the process of switching them over to Hard Disk systems based
off of AdvanceCD. I have everything working great with one caveat -
AdvanceCD seems to still believe it's on a read only media and won't
write high score data. Is there a way to modify this?

I really like having the hardware detection and the small footprint of
AdvanceCD, I really don't want to do a full blown linux distro. I plan
on using this image on several different machines (all running from
hard drive) and don't want to have to setup linux on each of them.

Any help anyone could provide would be great. I'm 98% there. If I
could add this one feature, this would be the best setup I've ever
used.

Thanks,

Tony

--------------------------------------------
