adv programs on amd64

I can't get any of the adv products to work on my amd64 (Running XP SP2).

I use the latest windows versions and this is what happens:
advmenu - Signal 11
advmame - Signal 11
advscan - crash

all work fine on my other PC (Pentium3 XP SP2)

Turned off "data execution protection" but it didn't help.

In advmenu the crash doesn't seem to happen at the same location all the time. Sometimes the startup sound starts playing and sometimes not. When it is playing the log says somthing about sound buffer underflow.

Any ideas?
