The 2.6.x frame buffer drivers are rapidly evolving.  Updating the 2.4.x 
patches to work with them would require a lot of work and strong programming 
skills, so I wouldn't hold my breath for help, not at least until the 2.6.x 
fb drivers stabilize a bit.  Your best bet would be to find a kernel version 
that supports your card, wait for a kernel release to support your card, or 
get another cheapo card.  Svgalib is very stable on 2.6.x kernels if you've 
got an older card. 

Right now 2.6.9 fb drivers aren't working on my card, but the 2.6.8.1 driver 
works flawlessly.  I suspect 2.6.10 will work for me when its finished, but 
who knows.  It's this kinda of variance that makes 2.6.x setups very tricky 
to keep running. 

I'm surprised that 2.6.8 doesn't support your card though.  It works just 
fine on my PNY TI 4600, which uses the same driver.  Do you know what make 
your card is?
