optimized builds of zlib are known to behave incorrectly (see www.linuxfromscratch.org or gentoo ebuild files for details). Martin Adrian writes: >>I can't get any of the adv products to work on my amd64 (Running XP SP2). >>I use the latest windows versions and this is what happens: >>advmenu - Signal 11 >>advmame - Signal 11 >>advscan - crash > > Traced it down via a debug build on advmenu. The crash happens because of an access violation (writing to location 0x00000001) in zlib function InflateInit2. > When I compile my own version of libz.a (with debug information, without optimizations) the program work fine without crash. > > My guess is that there is some strange code in the prebuilt libz.a. > > ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
