help with upgrading and questions

I have decided to update my mame cabinet to the latest software today 
both advmame and advmenu.

Just wondering how I should go about updating to the new .rc without 
loosing all my previous configurations. right now I have AdvMenu 2.3.7 
& AdvMAME 0.84
